They are demolishing North Dorchester High School. Oh, they’ll build a new school not far away. The boosters of NDHS held a “Last Dance” for alumni at the old school with tours conducted by current students. Memory Lane is always a bumpy road to travel; like being inside your own skin and outside at the same time. It’s a short road though, unlike The Last Skipjack journey where I spent two years in that dual role, trying to inhabit not just my own skin but that of all those farmers and water folk back mid century. What fun.
